They started out raising ducks, mostly because no one else was doing it. Ducks were either raised and processed on a large scale or processed painstakingly by small scale backyard producers and Ryan and Gina were determined to find the middle ground. With very little guidance they figured out how to raise and process tens of thousands of ducks per year, for a long while just the two of them. It took about three years to figure out how to raise and process ducks efficiently but in the end it was worth the satisfaction.
Their first processing operation was in the back of an old barn. Their second, in a renovated warehouse. Now, they’ve opened up a brand new facility to process more birds in a week than they did their first year. Under USDA inspection they are able to market their poultry all over the country and custom process poultry for producers, both large and small.
